“Chicago Fire” a $1 bb economic engine for the city

NBC’s “Chicago Fire” about the firefighters and paramedics at the firehouse of Engine 51, marked the airing of its 100th episode last week and with it, a high economic milestone for the Chicago film industry.

The show currently ranks as NBC’s second highest-rated series behind Tuesday night’s ensemble drama, “This is Us.”

Ratings have gone up from year-to-year. The Dec. 6 episode captured 7.774 million viewers, which certainly has to have a positive effect on tourism. And the odds are definitely in favor of a sixth season for the show.

EP Chappelle ensures that ‘Chicago Fire’ keeps it real

The longtime Evanstonian is the executive producer/director of “Chicago Fire,” Dick Wolf’s new drama that’s scheduled to premiere Friday, Oct. 12.  Only a local, of course, would understand the enormous challenge of filming house fires in Chicago’s 100-degree summer weather.

NBC’s ‘Chicago Fire’ starts filming here in mid-July

Good news for Chicago entertainment production! NBC Universal not unexpectedly ordered a full season of Dick Wolf’s “Chicago Fire.”  The series will start shooting in mid-July and “will go at least through to the end of year and possibly into the spring of 2013,” says Chicago Film Office director Rich Moskal.

The series is set to air on NBC this fall.  

“Chicago Fire” pilot shoots here March 14-April 1

THE “CHICAGO FIRE” PILOT is scheduled to shoot here March 14 through April 1, according to the Chicago Film Office’s Rich Moskal, who says no cast or director is confirm.  And, he adds cautiously, “There’s no guarantee the series will be shot in Chicago.” But given the fact the show is coming from “Law & Order’s” Dick Wolf, “There’s also a high expectation the series will be greenlighted and shoot here this summer.”

Chicago PD, Fire & Med return to production in September
