In tonight’s episode of Chicago Fire, fan-favorite character Kylie Estevez, played by Katelynn Shennett, will collaborate with Lieutenant Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) to investigate a series of missing fire hydrants. Tonight’s episode marks Kylie’s first appearance on the show in 2025.
Kylie Estevez was introduced in Season 8 of Chicago Fire as the inaugural recruit of Stella Kidd’s (Miranda Rae Mayo) ‘Girls on Fire’ program. Initially hesitant, she was persuaded by Kidd to join and later encouraged her friends to participate, significantly contributing to the program’s growth.
Due to her father’s job loss during the pandemic, Kylie temporarily stepped away from the program, taking a job at a donut shop. Recognizing her potential, Kidd offered her a position as an office assistant at Firehouse 51. Over time, she expressed ambitions of becoming a firefighter, a goal she pursued through the training and mentorship provided by the ‘Girls on Fire’ initiative.
By Season 12, Kylie had graduated from the program and secured a position on Truck 46 at another firehouse. In the episode Call Me McHolland, she faced a harrowing experience when she became trapped during a structure fire but was rescued by Kidd and fellow firefighter Gibson. Her calm demeanor under pressure and effective use of the ‘Buddy Breathing’ technique were commended by her peers.
Katelynn Shennett, born on August 5, 1997, is originally from Normal, Illinois. She graduated from Normal Community High School in 2015 and later attended the University of Chicago, where she studied acting and earned a BFA in theater. She began her acting career in theater before making her television debut as Kylie Estevez. Originally slated for a brief appearance, her character’s popularity led to a recurring role on the series.
In the upcoming episode titled Relief Cut, Herrmann leads the investigation into the missing fire hydrants and enlists Kylie’s assistance to uncover the details. This storyline not only highlights Kylie’s investigative skills but also underscores her evolving role within the department.
We look forward to seeing how Kylie’s character continues to develop and contribute to the dynamic team at Firehouse 51.
The episode airs tonight at 7 PM CT on NBC and streaming on Peacock the following day.
