We are less than a week away from the fall premieres of Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D. and we can’t wait to see what our heroes have in store for us this season.
Between the latest posters and the One Chicago promos, NBC Universal has given a lot of hints of what to expect in the premiere episodes and fans are getting excited about the upcoming season.
Here’s where we left off last season, and a quick look at what we can expect to see for the new season on One Chicago.
One Chicago premiere night is Wednesday, September 21 and Chicago Med will start off the evening at 7pm CST.
Chicago Med
The season 7 finale left us with a fiery cliffhanger with Dr. Dylan Scott (Guy Lockard) and Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) trapped in a burning building as they try to get a mobster out of the building, who is suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Undercover cop, Jo (Riley Voelkel) reveals to viewers that she is also suffering from a gunshot wound as she makes her own escape from the burning building.
Exclusive photos for the Chicago Med Season 8 premiere show both Halstead and Scott alive and well, so we can all breathe a sigh of relief knowing they will survive.
The photos reveal that one of our doctors becomes a patient when Dr. Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram) appears to require help walking from Halstead and Dr. Choi (Brian Tee), and she is also seen wearing a hospital gown in a hospital bed. So in the premiere episode How Do You Begin to Count the Losses it’s safe to assume Asher suffers some kind of medical emergency.
We know that there aren’t any major casting shake ups in store for Chicago Med, but we aren’t sure how long Hannah Asher will plan to stick around. Asher returned to Med in season 7 after a long absence since season 5, while she recovered from her heroin addiction. This season’s promo poster features Asher right in the center, which leads us to believe that after reintroducing herself to her ex, Will Halstead, in an attempt to start fresh, she might be remaining at Med through the season.
Chicago Fire
The Season 10 finale of Chicago Fire left us worrying about what’s in store for newlyweds Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) as a stalker loomed outside of their honeymoon cabin retreat. Since NBC has not hidden the fact that the pair are back to work after the honeymoon, it’s safe to assume that they will both survive the encounter.
Judging by the exclusive photos for the Chicago Fire Season 11 premier, the episode seems to be jam packed with excitement and action, and it doesn’t look like the excitement slows down as the season continues.
Reel Chicago was on the scene of the dramatic filming of a future episode where we can expect to see the historic Pickwick Theatre ablaze. The special effects of smoke and controlled flames were so realistic that it kept the interest of hundreds of local neighbors watching in awe for several days of filming, as their beloved landmark theatre appeared to be engulfed in flames. It was also a prime opportunity for many to meet and get selfies with the cast and crew.
Chicago P.D.
When we left our team in the season 9 finale, we were saddened to see the loss of Anna Avalos (Carmela Zumbado,) the informant with a troubled past, who was shot and killed, and Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) was seriously wounded.
Voight is featured in both the One Chicago promo video and the Chicago P.D. poster, so we know that he survives his injuries. After the announcement that Benjamin Levy Aguilar would be returning as series regular to play Dante Torres, he was also featured in the new Chicago P.D. promo poster along with the other prominent characters.
We also know that sadly at some point during the fall season, Jesse Lee Soffer who plays Jay Halstead, will be leaving his team, but what we don’t know is how his character will exit the series. NBC Universal has been especially tight-lipped regarding his exit and fans have been coming up with their own theories hoping that the show won’t kill off the one cop with the strongest moral compass out of the bunch. We are not expecting Halstead’s wife, Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) to be going anywhere, or his brother, Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) who works tirelessly at Chicago Med. Jay Halstead’s departure will need to be addressed on Chicago Med as well.
Our staff has been putting their heads together in our own “writer’s room” creating all the scenarios of how his departure will play out. However it ends, it will be a sad day to lose such a prominent and well loved member of the cast. We look forward to seeing what the future brings for Jesse Lee Soffer.
