The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum has unveiled a limited-edition bobblehead of Chicago Cubs radio announcer Pat Hughes to commemorate his receipt of the 2023 Ford C. Frick Award from the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
Hughes has been the radio play-by-play voice of the Chicago Cubs since 1996 and received the prestigious Ford C. Frick Award for broadcast excellence during the Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Weekend in July 2023. This award is the highest honor that a broadcaster can receive in the world of baseball. Hughes is among an elite group of announcers in Cubs’ history to have received this honor, alongside names like Jack Brickhouse, Harry Caray, Bob Elson, and Milo Hamilton.
This officially licensed bobblehead features Pat Hughes wearing black pants and a blue shirt, holding a microphone, and standing on a base bearing his name and the Baseball Hall of Fame logo. Each bobblehead is individually numbered to 2,023 and is available exclusively through the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum’s online store.
The bobbleheads are priced at $40 each, with a flat-rate shipping charge of $8 per order, and are expected to ship in December.
In addition to this new bobblehead, there are other previously released bobbleheads featuring Pat Hughes, including a World Series Final Out talking bobblehead of Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo with Hughes making the historic call. There are also three versions of a talking bobblehead featuring Hughes sitting at an announcer’s desk, where you can hear his legendary call from the historic 2016 World Series when the Cubs became champions after 108 years.
Hughes, known for his distinctive home run call, has called over 6,000 MLB games during his 40-year career, including eight no-hitters, historic contests, and postseason games. This bobblehead release is a celebration of his contributions to the world of baseball broadcasting.
He expressed his humility and gratitude for this honor, stating, “Winning the 2023 Ford C. Frick Award was an incredible experience and one that I’m very thankful for. Now fans can enjoy this Hall of Fame bobblehead and celebrate along with me.”
The CEO of the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, Phil Sklar, noted, “We are honored to release this bobblehead of Chicago Cubs radio legend Pat Hughes in celebration of him receiving the prestigious Ford C. Frick Award from the National Baseball Hall of Fame.”
Cubs fans and baseball enthusiasts alike will likely be excited to add this special bobblehead to their collections.
