Meet Chicago Med’s new doctor

The Gaffney Chicago Medical Center family has expanded with the addition of actor Luke Mitchell to the Chicago Med cast for the upcoming ninth season, according to Deadline.

Mitchell will play Dr. Mitch Ripley, an ER doc with a checkered past and connections to Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt). Mitchell is set to debut in the Season 9 premiere on January 17, with more episodes planned for the season.

Taking to Instagram, Mitchell shared his excitement about the role, announcing, “Dr. Mitch Ripley coming at ya early 2024! 😉 #ChicagoMed @nbc.” Fellow Blindspot co-star Jaimie Alexander cheered, “Yay Luke!!!!!🙌🤩🤩,” and Mitchell’s wife expressed her enthusiasm with, “Hellooooo Dr. Mitch!! 😍😍😍.” Jessy Schram, Mitchell’s future co-star, commented, “Lucky to have ya!”

The One Chicago franchise, including Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D., has been renewed for the 2023-2024 season and has begun filming the new season.

Luke Mitchell, a 38-year-old Australian actor, began his career on Australian soap operas. Married to fellow actor Rebecca Breeds for a decade, Mitchell has portrayed roles in various popular series, such as Lincoln Campbell on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Roman Briggs on NBC’s Blindspot, Ken on Legacies, and Cormac Barnes on Big Sky, where he collaborated with The Voice Coach Reba McEntire.
