Reel Chicago spotted the Work in Progress crew hard at work filming on location in Chicago’s Old Irving Park. The Showtime comedy series, created by Abby McEnany and Tim Mason is a Chicago series currently filming 10 episodes for Season 2.
McEnany plays lead-character Abby, “a 45-year-old self-identified fat, queer dyke.” Rolling through situations based on her own life, she encounters death, doubt, suicide and depression while becoming an altogether likable heroine.

Work in Progress boasts a perfect 100% score on the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer and a 96% among Google users, the “stunning debut” starring Abby McEnany, Karin Anglin, Julia Sweeney (as herself), Theo Germaine, and Celeste Pechous.
Also attached to the series is Chicago legend Lily Wachowski as Executive Producer/writer and Tessa Films co-founder Lisa Masseur who served as Executive Producer for the pilot and stayed on as a producer for the first season knowing that great things were ahead.
“From the get-go, I never had any doubt that this would happen because of Abby herself,” Massuer recalls. “Abby’s a magnetic person in real life, but on camera I cannot stop watching her.”
We look forward to a successful Season 2 but for now you can catch Season 1 streaming HERE on Showtime
