A new reign is coming. Paramount+ with Showtime has released a teaser trailer for the second half of Season 6 of The Chi, set to premiere on May 10.
The drama series created by Lena Waithe and filmed entirely in Chicago, provides an intimate look at the lives of residents in a neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago, showcasing both the challenges and the beautiful moments that form their everyday lives. It interweaves multiple storylines, focusing on community, family, and the human connections that bind people together, despite the backdrop of adversity.
The series, which ranks among the top Showtime, has been praised for its authentic representation, complex characters, and compelling storytelling. Over the seasons, it explores themes of love, loss, and redemption, as well as the impact of socio-economic issues on its characters’ lives. As it enters the second half of its sixth season, it continues to build on these themes, evolving the characters and their relationships.
In the first eight episodes of season 6, Emmett (Jacob Latimore) and Kiesha’s (Birgundi Baker) blissful blended union is tested by his perilous partnership with Douda, (Curtiss Cook), who is dealing with the fallout of Q’s murder and its effect on the shifting loyalty of his inner circle. Victor’s (Luke James) tangled past impacts his new role as a city councilman.
Newlyweds Jada (Yolonda Ross) and Darnell (Rolando Boyce) fear for their son Emmett after he makes a desperate, life-threatening move. Rob (Iman Shumpert) and Tiff’s (Hannaha Hall) cannabis business and Jake’s (Michael V. Epps) apparel line took off, and Papa (Shamon Brown Jr.) falls for an older woman while questioning his faith at the senseless loss of his beloved father.
Kevin (Alex R Hibbert) landed a big gaming opportunity in Los Angeles, leaving Maisha (Genesis Denise Hale) to fight for her own big career move despite manager Jemma’s (Judae’a Brown) newly divided attention. But danger lies in wait…no one is safe and everyone will be tested as never before throughout the sixth season’s shocking last eight episodes.
The Chi Season 6
The second half of Season 6 of The Chi will premiere Friday, May 10 for Paramount+ subscribers with the Paramount+ with Showtime plan. It will then air on Showtime on Sunday, May 12, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
