Schafer Condon Carter announced that Jack Hennessy has been promoted to Chief Operating and Media Officer, a newly created position. He most recently served as Executive Director of Paid Media and Analytics at the agency.
In the new role, Hennessy will continue leading and expanding SCC’s media practice while taking on broader responsibilities focused on strengthening operations and identifying opportunities to improve profitability. He will also help ensure teams have the resources and tools needed to succeed.
Hennessy will report to Ben Behrman, President and CEO of Schafer Condon Carter, and will work closely with the agency’s Executive Leadership Team, Finance, HR and other functional leaders. The promotion is effective immediately.
“Since joining SCC six years ago, Jack has played a significant role in shaping the trajectory of our agency,” said Behrman. “He stepped in to lead our media team with a clear vision for how the offering needed to evolve. Since then, he has modernized our media capabilities and grown the business into roughly a third of our overall agency revenue.” Behrman continued, “Over the past year, Jack has expanded his impact beyond media into broader operational leadership including helping to evolve our department-level financial reporting and creating an agency-wide talent planning tool that gives us greater clarity on capacity, budget, and hiring decisions. Simply stated, Jack’s impact on SCC has been substantial, and this next step reflects both what he’s built and where we’re headed.”
With a focus on objective-based planning, and under Jack’s leadership, SCC was successful in attracting more than a dozen new media clients and assignments over the past year, many of which went on to also include creative duties. Today, 40% of SCC clients use media. As a result, the number of dedicated media staffers has doubled. But just as important is both the quality of talent Jack has brought in and the culture he’s fostered.
Department capabilities span digital and traditional media as well as SEO, with a focus on actionable reporting including interactive dashboards. SCC media sits between smaller boutiques and the large holding companies, ideally positioned to service the middle market. Having an in-house media capability also leads to opportunities to bring creative and media together in innovative ways, such as a TikTok Topview Takeover to help support the launch of the “Go Big” campaign for the agency’s US Highbush Blueberry Council.
Jack’s promotion follows news last month that former Google Executive and co-author of “The “AI Marketing Canvas,” Jim Lecinski, had partnered with the agency to be a Senior Advisor.
“These moves not only showcase SCC’s growth and evolution, they also highlight the importance we place on securing and nurturing talent that can help ‘Create.Impact.’ for our clients,” said Behrman.
