rEvolution, the independent, global sports marketing agency with global headquarters in Chicago, has acquired London-based public relations and communications agency Sine Qua Non. The acquisition immediately bolsters rEvolution’s expertise in the technology category, as well as expanding its current roster of global clients.
Specializing in tech-forward PR, communications and sponsorship in sport, SQN boasts NetApp, Hyundai, Tata Communications and Toyota amongst its client portfolio, and now join rEvolution’s client roster of technology and automotive partners, including Capgemini, Continental Tire, Lamborghini, and McLaren Racing.
“Having had the chance to partner with SQN previously, we have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know their team and have seen their exceptional work first-hand,” said John Rowady, President and Founder, rEvolution. “For rEvolution, this acquisition is an alignment of two agencies with a shared vision of delivering integrated services, and also allows us to offer a deeper level of services and integration out of the UK.”
With the acquisition, rEvolution continues to broaden its fully integrated service model across strategy, creative, activation and management with SQN’s global service offerings and staff, led by industry leaders and co-founders Claire and Chris Ritchie. In addition to its leading tech and automotive clients, rEvolution works across all major sports leagues and properties and is currently the Partnership Agency of Record for American Family Insurance (across MLS, MLB, NFL and Summerfest), as well as the lead agency for Chipotle’s gaming and esports activities.
“Since our founding in 2001, SQN has always placed a premium on building long-standing partnerships with, and on behalf of, our clients,” said Claire Ritchie, Founder and CEO, SQN. “By partnering with rEvolution, we are now even better positioned to deliver on our clients’ objectives, with an even stronger foothold globally.”
rEvolution’s acquisition of SQN also delivers a second UK location as the organization’s fifth office – joining the Chicago headquarters and offices in Detroit, Indianapolis and London, UK. In addition to leadership roles for Claire and Chris Ritchie, as well as current Managing Director, Chris Hughes, all current SQN staff will join rEvolution in their client relations, content, experiential, social media, integrated marketing and communications roles. The SQN business will merge into the rEvolution brand effective with the close of the transaction.
“This is a tremendous opportunity, not only for both teams, but also for our client partners as well,” said Chris Hughes, Managing Director, SQN. “Moving forward as one rEvolution will allow us to continue on our path of being a global leader in sports marketing.”
rEvolution’s continued expansion also affords opportunities for its subsidiaries, including REV/XP, an independent, fully integrated gaming and esports marketing agency, currently overseeing Chipotle’s gaming and esports strategy; as well as rEv YOUTH, the youth-focused marketing agency.
