Writer / director Praheme and actor Hari Williams premiered one of the most talked-about shorts at the opening night of the Siskel Center’s Black Harvest Film Festival.

Stuck is an extremely unique take on hook-up culture. Based on one of the most bizarre predicaments in film history, the comedy catches its two lead actors — as well as most viewers — by complete surprise.

Stuck is about two strangers,” says Praheme, who wrote and directed the film. “They get stuck in a one-night stand, and the only way they can separate is by becoming vulnerable.”

When actor Williams first learned about the film’s central theme, he immediately wanted to get involved.

“(Praheme) told me the story, and I was absolutely into it,” says the actor, who attended Howard University with the director. “We go back to undergrad, where I was acting and he was making films, so this was actually a long time coming.”

Shortly after its screening, Stuck seemed to dominate half of the conversations at the Joffrey Ballet, where the reception for Black Harvest’s opening night took place.

One of its instant fans was Reel Chicago Columnist and Video Journalist Joey Filer. “There were a lot of belly laughs in the audience,” he said. “People were dying.”
