Motion, Chicago’s largest independent, female-owned creative communications agency has promoted Terry Mertens to their first-ever Executive Creative Director (ECD).
For nearly two years, Mertens has served as Vice President and Group Creative Director at Motion, where he led the writing division of the agency’s creative department and assisted with new business development. In his new role as ECD, Mertens will support additional new business efforts, recruit new talent, and continue to be a valuable client leader.
“Terry’s approachable and collaborative work style, combined with his highly pragmatic, detail-oriented problem-solving skills, make him an ideal fit for this new role at Motion,” said Kimberly Eberl, Motion’s Founder and CEO.
With over 25 years of experience, Mertens previously served as Group Creative Director at Plan B, where he directed the creative department for over 12 years. He studied at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, earning a Master of Science in Advertising and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Rhetoric.
This is the third new leadership position created at Motion in the past six months, highlighting the agency’s growth and strengthening capabilities. Prior to this, Mike Gehrig was hired as Motion’s Managing Director of the new Cincinnati, OH office, and Mark Shevitz was hired as Chief Strategy Officer.
