M&M’S have jumped out of the snack bowl and onto the screen in BBDO Chicago’s latest campaign, Screentime.

Directed by Rami Hachache through PRETTYBIRD US, the campaign includes three 15-second spots – Telenovela, Scene of the Crime and Unanimous – each borrowing from familiar film and TV genres to put the M&M’S Spokescandies at the center of the drama with an unexpected twist.

In Telenovela, a language misunderstanding finds the Green M&M flirting with a Spanish gentleman who appears to be declaring his love. The subtitles reveal something very different: he actually wants to eat her with his trail mix and popcorn. Watch below:

Scene of the Crime drops the Spokescandies into a crime drama, where detectives race to solve the mystery of five M&M-shaped victims who have been eaten.

And Unanimous takes its cues from reality TV, with contestants voting on who should leave the island. This time, however, the unlucky loser is not simply sent home.

They get eaten.

“M&M’S with your favorite movie or TV show is always a great idea. Turns out, M&M’S in your favorite movie or TV show is pretty great too,” said Josh Gross, chief creative officer at BBDO Chicago.

“It works so well because these Spokescandies feel like a cast we’ve known for years. We love them — but we kinda want to eat them — and that tension is irresistible.”

The work leans into M&M’S trademark humor while continuing the brand’s longstanding connection to entertainment culture.

The campaign echoes earlier M&M’S spots including Hostage, Trailer and Unanimous Decision, all of which placed the Spokescandies in similarly perilous situations. It also follows a July 2026 collaboration with Love Island that introduced three M&M’S Spokescandies as bombshell contestants.

Screentime launched Sept. 24 across broadcast, FEP, programmatic and social.
