Kara Killmer will be leaving Chicago Fire in Season 12

Kara Killmer

Kara Killmer says good-bye to Chicago Fire as the series prepares to enter its twelfth season.

The announcement, first released by Variety, came as Season 12 Chicago Fire is set to begin filming on Monday, November 27. The number of episodes in which her character Sylvie Brett will appear remains undisclosed.

Killmer became part of the popular procedural in the Season 3, portraying Sylvie as a central character. Jesse Spencer, who portrayed her love interest Matt Casey, exited the show in 2021 but has returned a number of times as a guest star.

In the Chicago Fire Season 11 finale, Matt proposed to Sylvie, sparking speculation about Spencer’s potential return. However, it seems that it was a setup for Killmer’s exit. The two will likely get married and ride off into the sunset together. Not unlike the narrative with recent departures from other One Chicago series, such as the exits of Chicago Med‘s Brian Tee and Yaya Dacosta, and Nick Gehlfuss and Torrey DeVitto. It will be interesting to see how Chicago P.D. will handle the recent news of losing Tracy Spiridakos this season and whether Jesse Lee Soffer will be involved in her character, Hailey Upton Halstead’s departure.

We can still anticipate the return of Taylor Kinney to Chicago Fire to help soften the blow of losing two of our favorite One Chicago actors playing female powerful roles.
