Jesse Lee Soffer has been announced as a series regular for Season 4 of CBS’s FBI: International. The surprise addition comes following Luke Kleintank’s departure from the show last season.
Soffer, known for his long-running role as Detective Jay Halstead on Chicago P.D., will not be reprising this character. Instead, he will introduce an entirely new character yet to be disclosed. This casting approach is similar to how Colin Donnell, formerly of Chicago Med, appeared on FBI: International last season as Brian Lange, a different character from his previous role as Dr. Connor Rhodes.
FBI: International, the third installment in the FBI franchise, chronicles the missions of the FBI’s International Fly Team. Based in Budapest, the team travels across Europe, neutralizing threats to American citizens. The series features Carter Redwood, Vinessa Vidotto, Christina Wolfe, and Eva-Jane Willis. Teri Polo joined the cast in Season 3, debuting in the season finale.
The show is executive produced by Dick Wolf, Matt Olmstead, Michael Katleman, Ernesto Alcalde, and Peter Jankowski. Produced by Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television in association with CBS Studios, FBI: International was renewed for a fourth season in April, concluding its third season in May.
Jesse Lee Soffer starred in Chicago P.D. for over nine seasons before leaving the show in 2022. He has since returned to direct two episodes. Soffer is represented by Ethos Entertainment, UTA, and Schreck Rose Dapello.
Deadline was the first to report this.
