During today’s visit to Los Angeles, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker highlighted the film incentives offered by his state while emphasizing its commitment to protecting individual freedoms, including LGBTQ rights, women’s reproductive rights, and in vitro fertilization.

Speaking at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, Pritzker also criticized former President Donald Trump and discussed the impact of his legal issues on the upcoming presidential election.

Pritzker emphasized that Illinois provides a welcoming environment for film productions, with significant monetary incentives such as a 30% credit on qualified productions. He noted that quality-of-life issues, along with financial incentives, play a crucial role in attracting productions to Illinois, citing examples like Dick Wolf’s Chicago franchise and the FX hit The Bear, which was recently renewed for a fourth season.

In contrast to states like Georgia, where abortion is outlawed after six weeks of pregnancy, Pritzker highlighted Illinois’ commitment to protecting individual rights. He stressed the importance of creating an inclusive environment for production crews and actors, where their rights and freedoms are respected.

Peter Hawley, Director of the Illinois Film Office, reported that business is thriving in the state, with nine TV shows currently in production and a strong pipeline of upcoming projects. He noted that the majority of productions cited Illinois’ tax incentives as a key factor in their decision to film in the state.

Pritzker also addressed the legal troubles facing the former president, including the upcoming Stormy Daniels hush money trial in New York City. He expressed his belief that these issues would impact Trump’s campaign for the presidency, emphasizing Trump’s character flaws and the importance of accountability.

While acknowledging that some voters prioritize economic issues like tax cuts, Pritzker asserted that values such as reproductive freedom and family rights also play a significant role in shaping voters’ decisions. He predicted that public opinion would shift as more information about Trump’s legal challenges comes to light, ultimately influencing the outcome of the election.

Governor Pritzker’s visit to Los Angeles showcased Illinois’ commitment to the film industry and its dedication to upholding fundamental rights and values for all residents.
