Ethan Choi is back as Brian Tee returns to Chicago Med this week

Brian Tee as Ethan Choi

When Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) took a bullet in a near fatal shooting in the Chicago Med Season 6 finale, we suspected that Tee had a few extracurricular activities on his plate that would keep him from a full time commitment in Season 7.

As Choi recovers both physically and mentally from a gunshot wound, Tee has been filming his role in the new streaming television series Expats alongside co-star Nicole Kidman, based on the 2016 novel The Expatriates by Janice Y. K. Lee, set to premiere on Amazon Video.

We say, how cool is that! How nice that the Chicago Med showrunners and executive producers Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider were up to the challenge and able to create a storyline around Tee’s absence.

With that working out so nicely, if you are a fan of Brian Tee you will see him in both series. Dr Choi is about to make his return to the E.D. at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center in episode 7 airing this Wednesday, November 3.

Here’s the official information that NBC has made available for this Wednesday’s episode of Chicago Med titled A Square Peg In A Round Hole:

Crockett helps Dr. Blake replace a patient’s liver. Vanessa tries to prove herself. Will continues to pursue the truth about Cooper. Ethan gets closer to returning to life in the E.D.

We speculate that Choi will be facing the challenge of adjusting to life back in middle of the chaos and trauma in the E.D. after having gone through his own traumatic experience.

In an interview with TVLine, Chicago Med showrunner Diane Frolov confirmed Tee will make more frequent appearances later in the season. She stated, “We have a couple of episodes devoted to [Choi’s] physical recovery, and then we’ll pursue the emotional and mental recovery.”

It is great to see Choi return to the team. As much as we love to see Brain Tee in the many roles he plays, we hope he will not be pulled away from Chicago Med.
