The MGM+ series Emperor of Ocean Park, based on Stephen L Carter’s gripping suspense novel, has begun filming in Chicago and they are casting extras in the local area. These are minor, non-speaking background roles that come with compensation.
The highly anticipated adaptation, developed by Sherman Payne, renowned for his contributions on Shameless, has secured a 10-episode order from the network. The project, which began filming in February, is receiving production support from Warner Bros. Television and John Wells Productions, known for ER, China Beach, Third Watch, The West Wing, Southland, and Shameless. Damian Marcano, known for his work on Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, is set to direct multiple episodes of the series. Christina Varotsis will co-produce.
Emperor of Ocean Park, starring Forest Whitaker, Gratham Coleman, Tiffany Mack, and Paulina Lule, is set in the world of D.C. politics, Ivy League academia, and the beaches of Martha’s Vineyard. The series centers on Talcott Garland’s (Gratham Coleman) quiet life as an Ivy League law professor whose world is shattered when his father, Judge Oliver Garland (Forest Whitaker), dies of an apparent heart attack. The nature of the judge’s death is questioned by Tal’s sister, Mariah (Tiffany Mack), a former journalist and constant conspiracy theorist, who believes that the judge, a former failed Black nominee to the Supreme Court, met with foul play.
“Emperor of Ocean Park is much more than a murder mystery,” MGM+ head Michael Wright said in a statement. “While it is an engrossing whodunit in its own right, it also explores important themes of middle-and-upper-class Black identity, making it an outstanding addition to MGM+’s slate of engaging and thought-provoking original series.”

LOOKING FOR PEOPLE WHO CAN PLAY THE FOLLOWING: We are looking for a REAL COUPLE, African American Ethnicity, 18 – 24 Ages. You WILL BE kissing on camera, dancing VERY closely in a reggaeton/dancehall style. The Couple WILL BE SELECTED BY THE DIRECTOR. This couple’s role also will have significant camera time.
There are 3 scenes you MUST be a part of: Arcade gathering, House Party, AND Police interrogation. You MUST be flexible and/or have an open schedule IF any of these film dates change.
As of now, production is considering bussing some of the Background to the Burb days.
TO BE CONSIDERED: MUST BE ABLE TO WORK ALL 3 DATES. THIS IS INCREDABLY IMPORTANT FOR THE CONTINUITY OF THE SHOW. You BOTH must be ok with what the Director is asking you to do, kiss and dance in the House Party mainly. You BOTH also need to have knowledge and ability to do the style of dance.
