If you’re a fan of America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League and have been following the show you know that Chicago’s own The Pack Drumline made it all the way to the finals this week.
Aside from their exceptional showmanship and drumming skills, what makes this group’s accomplishment so special is that they are one of only two acts to reach the finals without receiving the judges support of a Golden Buzzer, meaning they made it this far with audience support.
The Pack Drumline delivered a mesmerizing performance that literally set their drums on fire, leaving the judges in awe.
Despite being labeled as “underdogs” by Simon Cowell, their fiery display of talent earned high praise from all four judges, particularly their mentor, Simon, who expressed his excitement, acknowledging their determination to win and emphasizing their outstanding performance.
Simon proclaimed, “This might be one of those moments when the underdogs actually take the title home.” He commended them for their exceptional showmanship, stating, “You so deserve this because you worked hard for this, as a show, as a song, as a performance. It was absolutely outstanding.”
The results of the America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League will be revealed in the finale on Monday, February 19 at 7 pm CT on NBC.
The Pack Drumline is vying for the $250,000 prize in the America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League, with fans eagerly awaiting the results. Judges Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, and Mel B were equally impressed by their fiery performance.
Howie praised their impeccable choreography and drumming skills, adding, “You added fire… I can’t imagine anybody not enjoying this.”
Heidi admired the energy and choreography of their performance, highlighting their journey to the finals without relying on the golden buzzer or audience votes. She added, “And out of really only two acts you made it all by yourself here because you are that good. You guys are fantastic and you deserve this.”
Mel B lauded their flawless execution, remarking, “Nobody stepped the foot wrong. Nobody lost their sticks. You were on fire. You are brilliant.”
Reflecting on their journey, lead drummer Perry Donte shared an emotional comment about the group’s humble beginnings in a school program aimed at helping kids in Chicago. Despite facing challenges and making sacrifices, including deaths in the family, financial hardships and job losses, they remained dedicated to each other and their craft.
Here’s the timeline of their success:
Hailing from Chicago, The Pack Drumline was founded in 2014 as an after-school program targeting at-risk youth.
Their audition on Episode 1701 of the talent show featured a percussive rendition of Kendrick Lamar’s DNA, impressing all four judges who unanimously voted them through to the next round.
Advancing to the Semifinals, their performance in Episode 1712 showcased a dynamic routine incorporating percussion, dance, and blindfolds to Masked Wolf’s Astronaut in the Ocean, earning them standing ovations from judges Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara, and Simon Cowell. Despite the acclaim, they fell short of securing enough votes in Episode 1713 to enter the Top 5, leading to their elimination from the competition.
Despite this setback, The Pack Drumline was recognized as one of the Top 40 acts, propelling them into the Draft Pool, where they were selected to join Simon Cowell’s team.
Their subsequent performances continued to captivate audiences and judges alike, leading them to the Semifinals and eventually the Finals with energetic routines featuring inventive percussion arrangements and choreography.
The Pack Drumline, along with Shadow Ace, distinguished themselves as the only two acts to reach the Finals of America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League without receiving the Golden Buzzer.
