Alberto Rosende says goodbye in the Chicago Fire Season premiere

Alberto Rosende

The excitement of returning to work is dulled as Chicago Fire bids farewell to yet another cast member. Alberto Rosende, who played Blake Gallo for four seasons, will make his exit in the Season 12 premiere on January 17, as confirmed by Deadline.

Rosende initially joined the Fire cast in Season 8 as a promising yet occasionally impulsive rookie firefighter with a tragic history, taken under the wing of Jesse Spencer‘s character, Casey. Gallo’s character also navigated an on-and-off romantic relationship with paramedic Violet, played by Hanako Greensmith.

The upcoming Season 12 of Chicago Fire will also see the departure of Kara Killmer, who plays paramedic Sylvie Brett.

On a positive note, Taylor Kinney‘s Lt. Kelly Severide is slated to make a full-time return to the show after a temporary leave of absence.

Also, in One Chicago‘s losses this season, Chicago P.D., Tracy Spiridakos (Det. Hailey Upton Halstead) will exit the show in its upcoming 11th season. Her onscreen husband, played by Jesse Lee Soffer as Det. Jay Halstead, bid farewell to the series last year.

No reason was given for the departure of Alberto Rosende. We can only assume that the recent budget cutbacks and reduced screen time for the cast, plays a part in the loss of many of our favorite actors.

Showrunner Derek Haas left the One Chicago franchise the previous year. Andrea Newman, the co-showrunner and executive producer for Fire Season 11, has step into the role of showrunner for Season 12.

Chicago Fire Season 12 is set to premiere on Wednesday, January 17, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
