Marc USA wastes no time bringing in ECD Joe Burke

Joe Burke now heads Marc USA’s creative

Veteran Chicago creative executive Joe Burke, best known for his award-winning “Is It In You?” campaign for Gatorade, is set to join Marc USA/Chicago as executive creative director. Burke succeeds John Immesoete who jumped ship along with president Mark Modesto to take national posts with the Ryan Partnership.

Modesto and Immesoete were only at Marc USA for a little more than seven months.

Previously at DDB/Chicago, Burke was a founding partner at Element 79/Chicago, where he worked on various commercials for Gatorade when it was an Element 79 client.  Those spots included “Be Like Mike II,” “The Origin of Gatorade” and Michael Jordan vs. Mia Hamm.” Over the course of his career, Burke has also done work for a variety of other brands, including Coors Light, Frito Lay, Quaker Oats and American Family Insurance.

“Joe’s creative reputation is as stellar as they get and demonstrates our commitment to elevate our creative work,” said Jean McLaren, president of Marc USA/Chicago.  “Central to getting great work today is collaboration across all channels, something Joe has excelled at throughout his award-winning career,” added McLaren.

Speaking about his new post, Burke said:  “Marc USA puts a premium on entrepreneurialism and independence. These are critical factors in stimulating great work across the marketing landscape.”  Burke had been a freelance creative since departing DDB in 2011.
