‘Ye’ wins (sort of) Super Bowl ad with homemade video

Chicago-born Kanye West “Ye” made a unique impact during the Super Bowl by airing a homemade commercial to promote his new merchandising campaign.

Despite the absence of a high budget, West’s unconventional approach drew attention as he encouraged viewers to visit his Yeezy website. While traditional brands spent millions on advertising during the Super Bowl, West’s low-budget commercial stood out for its authenticity and creative approach.

The 25-second clip, filmed on presumably West’s mobile phone, finds the Hip Hop artist – his voice affected by his titanium dentures. He urges viewers to visit his Yeezy website as he travels in the backseat of a car.

‘Since we spent all the money on the commercial spot we actually didn’t spend any money on the actual commercial,’ he confesses.  Watch below:

Fans praised West’s initiative on social media, recognizing it as a stroke of marketing genius. The commercial coincided with West’s decision to withdraw his latest album, Vultures 1, from streaming platforms, sparking speculation and interest among fans.

Ultimately, the commercial served as an effective marketing tool, directing viewers to West’s website and driving sales to $19 million. Not bad for a $7 million ad spend.

In 2021, a Los Angeles judge has officially approved the rapper’s name change request, a communications officer at the Los Angeles Superior Court has confirmed. The 44-year-old star initiated the request back in August, citing “personal reasons” as the motivation behind the change.

The rapper, widely recognized for his chart-topping hits such as Gold Digger and Stronger, had been using “Ye” as a nickname for some time. In 2018, he notably adopted Ye as the title of one of his albums. Following the album’s release, he took to Twitter to announce, “The being formally known as Kanye West. I am YE.”
