X-Ray produces a mockumentary based on mystery writer Jay Bonansinga’s short story

A feature based on popular mystery-thriller novelist Jay Bonansinga’s short story, “Stash,” goes into production in July, with the writer making his debut as a director.

The under-$200,000 indie film is being produced by X-Ray Productions. Lance Catania (“Cup of My Blood”) is DP and a co- producer with his partners Gene Cosentino and Ken Nilsson.

“Stash” is a dark comedy about society’s sexual addiction told in mockumentary style,” said Catania. “Think of it as ?Spinal Tap’ meets ?The Office’ with ?Blair Witch’ thrown in.”

Comedian Tim Kazurinski and Marilyn Chambers of X-rated movie fame, have been signed to portray the key roles of the main character’s in-laws. The producers are in the process of filling other roles?”we’re looking to find the best actors in Chicago,” said Bonansinga?and key crew positions.

Principal photography in mini DVcam takes place July 10 through August 5 at X-Ray’s Bucktown studios and throughout Chicago. Catania and Nilsson will edit. It will head for the festival circuit, where “Cup of My Blood” enjoyed success, said Catania.
