WTTW announces new 2019 holiday programming

WTTW, Chicago’s PBS station, will present a variety of holiday specials and concerts as part of its 2019 holiday programming schedule throughout December.

This year’s lineup explores the backgrounds and celebrates the traditions of holidays all over the world, including performances and ensembles as well as specials that examine the contemporary customs of Christmas and Hanukkah.

Christmas with the Tabernacle Choir featuring Kristin Chenoweth
The Tabernacle Choir is joined by Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth for a Christmas tradition with music, dancing, and storytelling.

Join the Wheaton College choirs and ensembles for a selection of holiday music.

Christmas at Belmont
Hosts CeCe Winans and Michael W. Smith and Belmont University’s School of Music present carols, classics, world music, and lighthearted favorites.

St. Thomas Christmas: Comfort & Joy
The University of St. Thomas in Minnesota presents the fifth annual broadcast of its annual Christmas concert.

Christmas at St. Olaf: Ris’n with Healing in His Wings
This year’s program features “Gloria” by Andre J. Thomas with choirs, soloists, and orchestra in gospel style; and Christmas carols and choral anthems.

Classic Christmas with the Bach Festival Society
The Bach Festival Society in Winter Park, Florida performs Christmas hymns with its 175-voice choir, youth choir, and orchestra.

Lucy Worsley’s 12 Days of Tudor Christmas
Lucy Worsley discovers how Christmas is celebrated in contemporary times – from carols to mulled wine.

Mother Mildred and Nonnatus House team go to Outer Hebrides in response to a nursing shortage, where they try to keep up with the needs of the locals.
