“Windy Field” baseball sitcom pilot aims to be DVD-distributed series

The character-driven story is about nine Little League misfits who are reunited by the death of their former coach. The coach leaves his beloved Windy Field baseball stadium located on a chi-chi North Side location to the members of his worst-ever team.

The caveat: If they can make Windy Field profitable in one year they can keep the valuable property.

Executive producer Diana Romero said she created I-Media Entertainment to produce TV series to be released on DVD. To fund the series, Romero plans to sell various promotional tie-ins to advertisers, who can also advertise via commercials.

“Windy Field” will be ready for distribution early in the baseball season, Romero said. “Our goal is to tie-in with a sports publication that would include the DVD episodes to subscribers. There are so many venues available to us outside traditional channels,” she said.

Co-executive producers are Romero and director Wojciech Lorenc, Ed Koziarski is assistant director. Cameraman Joe Passarelli shot on 16mm. Budget was $30,000.

Seven days of shooting took place at the Cubs’ Care Field, the North and Halsted YMCA ball park, outside Wrigley Field (with permission to use the sign) and the Oehler Funeral Home in Des Plaines.

Playing the adult Little Leaguers are actors Scott Antonucci, Bernadette Brophy, Terra Even, Rina Pignone, Anna Jung, David Saunders, Danny Starr, Chris Zumwalt, Jennifer Sydney and Vito Vittore.
