Will “T5” be Michael Bay’s last “Transformer” film?

Director Michael Bay

Will “Transformers 5” be director Michael Bay’s last “Transformers” film in the $3 billion franchise?? That’s what he told Rolling Stone. “I’m doing Transformers … five, is it? I’ve taken on a lot of work…

“It’s fun to do a movie that 100 million people will see,” he said. “But this is the last one. I have to pass the reins to someone else. J.J. (Abrams) told me, ‘You’re the only guy that could do this.’ But it’s time to move on. One more.”

“T5” is scheduled to start filming in Detroit in May. As for the latest autobot epic shooting in Chicago this fall, there’s been lots of talk but nothing confirmed.

Hasbro, however, has confirmed there will be more “Transformers” sequels. In fact, the team is plotting for sequels six, seven and eight in the next 10 years. But with Bay’s departure, they will be helmed by another (or more than one) director.
