The Film Unit of Teamsters Local 727 hit a momentous historical milestone March 10 when it admitted — are you ready for this? — its very first female member in its 70 year history.

She is Anne Stuart, Chicago manager Props on Wheels, which rents whatever kind of vehicle model, year or make a producer could ever want or need in the line of film production.

“I was stunned,” says POW owner, Minneapolis based Brian Denny, a 17-year member of Teamsters Local 638. “For a woman to get into a boys club like this remarkable,” although, he added, “I thought the outlook of unions were a little more worldly in this point in time.”

When asked how this amazing landmark event came about, “It was easy,” says Local 727 First Lady Stuart.

“During the long film drought, I worked a side job for a union bus company affiliated with Local 777. When 727 decided to add new members, I went to its West Side offices with my resume of film jobs, my B Category drivers’ license and 777 membership card.
