The WGA has called for a general strike that includes TV and film writers across the United States.
The strike order was announced Monday night, shortly before 12 midnight Chicago time, after negotiations with the AMPTP failed to reach an agreement on a new contract.
The strike is effective 12:01 AM, Tuesday, May 2, bringing all filming to a halt.
Most of Chicago’s shows, Chicago P.D., Chicago Med, The Bear, Durango, have wrapped for the summer. The Chi is in production and Chicago Fire is in the middle of filming their season finale.
If the WGA strike extends for as long as the 2007 run did, that would eat into the prep time for all the shows before they return in the fall.
