Wendell Etherly’s “Market Value” premieres at Reeling

Jules Bruff and Noah McCarty-Slaughter in “Market Value”

Chicago writer/director Wendell Etherly’s feature, Market Value, will premiere at The Reeling: Chicago LGBTQ+ International Film Festival on September 25.

The powerfully emotional drama tells the story of Audrey Stewart (Jules Bruff), a professional nurse living comfortably with her wife, who is abruptly forced to confront the circumstances that forced her to give up her son fifteen years earlier.

Besides Bruff, who starred in Zodiac as Cathering Allen, the cast features a number of well-known actors including Chicago Fire’s Chandra Michaels, The Girlfriend Experience’s John Hoogenakker, and Dynasty’s Chandra Michaels.

Chicago-born Noah McCarty-Slaughter plays Audrey’s son, Brian.

Wetherly, who hails from the South Side, began his filmmaking career when he was fifteen years old. His notable achievements since then include two Illinois Arts
Fellowship Awards, a Pulitzer Prize nomination for Dramatic Works and a 3Arts nomination for Outstanding Chicago Artist.

Market Value is his directorial debut.

Monday Sept. 25, 6:30 p.m. | Landmark Century Centre Cinema, 2828 N. Clark St.

Celebrating its 35th year, the Reeling Festival will light up screens at Century City and other Chicago venues from September 21-28.
