Was new Mean Girls movie mean to Lindsay Lohan?

What initially seemed like Lindsay Lohan’s endorsement of the new Mean Girls movie took a turn, as reports suggest she is “hurt and disappointed” by a seemingly insensitive joke directed at her in the film which is set in Chicago’s North Shore.

Lohan attended the film’s premiere on January 8 and even made a surprise cameo, adding to the anticipation surrounding the movie. Tina Fey, the screenwriter and actress, explained that due to logistical constraints, they could only manage to bring back one original cast member, and Lohan was the chosen one. Fey acknowledged Lohan’s pivotal role in the original movie, stating, “She’s the heart of that movie.”

However, it appears that Lohan’s involvement didn’t shield her from a sneaky joke inserted into the script, apparently at her expense. The controversial scene involves Megan Thee Stallion in a TikTok video in front of a photo of Angourie Rice, who portrays Cady Heron and shares Lohan’s red hair.

In the scene, the Hip Hop artist says, “Hot girls, we are going back red, Y2K fire crotch is back.” The term “fire crotch” has a painful history for Lohan, stemming from a 2006 incident where oil heir Brandon Davis publicly used the derogatory term about her in an interview.

The 2006 incident led to a feud between Paris Hilton and Lohan. The reappearance of the term in the new movie reportedly caught Lohan off guard, with sources stating she was “surprised and taken aback” during the film premiere.

Lohan’s representative expressed that the actress is “very hurt and disappointed” by the use of the term. It remains to be seen if an apology will be extended to the star of the OG 2004 film, which propelled Lohan and Rachel McAdams to stardom.

The incident raises questions about why the filmmakers chose to include a joke that could potentially upset a former star who had shown support for the new Mean Girls movie. Fans are now awaiting Tina Fey’s response to shed light on the situation.

Mean Girls was the number one film over the MLK weekend earning $33.2 million.
