Visions of Light’s invests $25,000 in assortment of new gear, including Panasonic’s P2 Camcorder

In mid-January, Joseph Farris was one of the lucky local shooters to take delivery of a Panasonic P2 camcorder to add to his extensive camera arsenal.

His Visions of Light was one of the few independent production companies in the Midwest to acquire the hot Panasonic AG-HVX200 P2 Camcorder for HD capture, which Farris calls “Varicam’s baby brother.”

“There’s been a waiting list for the P2 since the camera was released in mid-January. Panasonic has only delivered a handful a month since then,” the DP said.

In a further expansion, Farris invested $25,000 to expand his lighting inventory, and added a field audio package, and a Final Cut Pro HD edit suite for his Carol Stream operation.

Panasonic’s HVX200 records HD to P2 media cards, and standard definition to mini DV tape.
