Vince Vaughn touched a nerve when he said Chicago lacks “better” post facilities

At one of the post-Oscar parties, Chicago’s very own Vince Vaughn met the Tribune’s Mark Caro and told him how much he had enjoying filming “Fred Claus” here in January.

But then Vaughn said: Too bad that the city lacks larger studio space and postproduction facilities; otherwise he’d have done the whole movie here.

We won’t get into a discussion of studio space, but regarding post facilities, was Vaughn’s perception right or wrong, or somewhere in between?

We asked some post veterans of commercials, indie films and features for their reaction to his statement, and what they might say to him if they had a chance to talk to him as Caro did.
