With Stanley Cup fever at a high pitch, The Daily Planet is secretively producing an update of “Hit the Ice,” the pre-game video that plays on the United Center’s Jumbotron to jazz up the fans — as if they need it at this point.
“We’re making it ?Stanley Cup playoffs ready,'” was all that tight-lipped Planet president Scott Marvel would disclose about the new video.
The Planet is working fast to make the changes, however, as Game l of the finals begins Saturday, May 29, on NBC. If they play all seven games, the playoffs would end Friday, June 11.
The Planet’s client for the past five years, Blackhawks’ management, asked to have the pre-game excitement builder recrafted to emphasize the Stanley Cup playoffs — especially now that they are soclose — to bringing home the Stanley Cup after a 49-year absence.
