(Chicago — 6 June 2018) Versa Media, a North American production house designed for a disruptive age, today announces that its brand new series Cerebral will make its international debut at SeriesFest at the Sie Film Center in Denver June 22-27.

Beating out hundreds of entries, Cerebral is one of only 13 drama pilots to be selected as a finalist in SeriesFest’s Independent Pilot Competition, which recognizes the world’s best television series in production while showcasing a diverse range of original programming.

Cerebral is a supernatural anthology series that addresses existential questions by embracing the “what ifs”. The series explores fringe topics in an alternate universe by channeling the dark recesses of the human psyche. Using the power of allegory, every tale of “Cerebral” has a modern-day, socio-political and controversial question looming in the background.

During the Independent Pilot Competition, SeriesFest will screen the pilot episode, “Skookum”, which follows a man named Neil who returns to the wilderness after many years to save those most dear to him from a woodland creature of legend. Following the premiere at SeriesFest, the episode will be judged by an all-star jury for the potential to receive awards.

Cerebral was created by Andrew Bennett and Kenneth Stevenson who work professionally under the filmmaking alias, the Versa Brothers. As American film and television directors, writers and producers, the duo co-founded Versa Media while studying at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.

Today, Versa Media serves as a trans-media production company with creative concepts that span across film, television, comics and other art forms. It focuses on cutting-edge projects that speak to timeless ideals, relationships as well as resilience while overcoming hard questions, mysteries and trying times.

“We are thrilled to introduce audiences to the fantastical narratives of ‘Cerebral’, which creatively explores extraordinary meanings in today’s civilized world,” said the Versa Brothers. “As we continue through this new era of innovation that has disrupted the landscape of television and entertainment, we are thankful for emerging platforms like SeriesFest that serve as catalysts for new projects as well as elevate emerging voices, opinions and perspectives.”

SeriesFest is an award-winning international film festival dedicated to showcasing the best and boldest in episodic storytelling from around the world. Known as the “Sundance of TV”, SeriesFest has become a must-attend destination event for entertainment industry leaders and fans alike. Since its inception in 2014, close to a dozen independent projects that made their debut at SeriesFest have landed on mainstream distribution platforms.

In the festival’s fourth season, SeriesFest makes its return to Denver, which is the birthplace of cable television. Featuring six days of screenings, panels, network sneak peaks and worldwide premieres, SeriesFest offers a platform for compelling content with the goal for award-winning projects to get mainstream distribution.

This year, SeriesFest will be headlined by Grammy award-winning country band Lady Antebellum at the Red Rocks Amphitheater. It will also debut a special screening of Paramount Network’s new original series “Yellowstone”, starring Academy Award winner Kevin Costner.
