After 44 years as a glitzy black tie albeit an often ponderous event, the 45th annual local Emmy awards will be a much lower-key evening, perhaps in keeping with the lower-key times in local broadcasting.
Instead of an oft times stuffy dinner and lengthy awards show, the 45th will take place on Monday Dec. 1. It starts with a casual buffet at Petterino’s restaurant and moves next door to the Goodman Theatre.
The theatre is big enough to accommodate the 500 guests who traditionally attend the annual awards presentation.
Emmy nominations for 2003 will be announced Oct. 8 at Andy’s.
