Ullberg & team go green in reality TV pilot

TV show veteran Lars Ullberg produced and directed pilot for a reality TV series about energy conservation, shooting in an 84-year-old log lodge on a lake in nearby Michigan, that was in need of efficient energy improvements.

Titled “The King of Green,” the series follows a team of home energy experts as they find ways to make buildings more energy efficient on a budget.

Ullberg and his crew of five shot in the 27-room East Bay Lodge vacation resort at Houghton Lake, in Prudenville, Mich., about five hours east of Chicago.

The show will include energy audit expert, “The King of Green” Joe Ludy of Building Performance by Design, Kawkawlin, Mich., as part of the recurring cast of characters with special green energy expertise.

Lodge Lorrie and Randy Krause were “looking for an energy audit, and we were looking for a location with personality,” said Ullberg, who heads Applied Creative Training and Entertainment Labs.

The idea for the show grew from Ullberg and his childhood friend Rob Riley, a green technology instructor, who wanted to show the struggle people have making a living in a region looking for commercial and industrial reinvention ? a place which has future potential of green living and prospects.
