GREAT NEWS FOR THE
CHICAGO PRODUCTION COMMUNITY

Chicago Fire
Chicago P.D.
Chicago Med

renewed for 2018-2019!

Deadline and Variety today reported that all three of the shows in the Dick Wolf Chicago trifecta are officially set for another run.

Chicago P.D., Chicago Fire, and Chicago Med — which film at Cinespace Studios — have been strong ratings-earners for NBC.

P.D. — averaging a 2.2 in the Adults 18-49 demo — is the network’s highest-rated drama series behind This Is Us, which holds the top spot.

Fire and Med follow closely behind with a 2.1 rating.

Chicago P.D. follows the men and women of the Chicago Police Department’s elite Intelligence Unit, combatting the city’s most heinous offenses: organized crime, drug trafficking, high-profile murders and beyond. Chicago Med — starring Nick Gehlfuss, Torrey DeVitto, Colin Donnell, Norma Kuhling, Oliver Platt, Rachel DiPillo, Brian Tee, S. Epatha Merkerson, Yaya DaCosta and Marlyne Barrett — follows the day-to-day chaos of the city’s newest state-of-the-art trauma center and look into the lives of the courageous doctors, nurses, and staff who hold it all together.

Who’s returning for “Chicago Fire?”

According to Deadline, all five remaining original cast members — Jesse Spencer, Taylor Kinney, Eamonn Walker, Monica Raymund and David Eigenberg — initially had six-year contracts that were to expire at the end of the current season. Reportedly, Wolf Entertainment and Universal TV approached leads Spencer and Kinney about new deals. I hear both signed one-year extensions that will take them through the upcoming seventh season.

There has been speculation that Raymund, the most prominent female cast member on the show, may not continue on the series beyond her original contract. On the show, Walker plays Battalion Chief Wallace Boden, who oversees the firefighters and paramedics of Truck 81. Raymund plays Paramedic in Charge/Firefighter Candidate Gabriela “Gabby” Dawson. Eigenberg plays Senior Firefighter Christopher Herrmann, Chicago Fire’s cast also includes Kara Killmer, Miranda Rae Mayo, Christian Stolte, Joe Minoso, and Yuri Sardarov, all of whom joined as series regulars later and are all under contracts for one or more seasons.

The renewal for Chicago Med follows the pickup to series of NBC medical drama pilot New Amsterdam, which eyes a spot on the fall schedule. Stay tuned to Reel Chicago for more updates on Chicago-based shows as upfronts are around the corner.
