Director Tim Mason started off his new role as the newest addition to ONE at Optimus’ directorial roster by helming spots for Illinois Lottery / Downtown Partners and New Ocean / Golin.
Mason, a member of Ron Lazzeretti’s Hog Butcher content creative company, recently worked with ONE at Optimus to direct “No Other Way to Say It” that won Best Comedy Short at the recent Best of Midwest Awards Film Fest.
Ir’s about a voiceover actress trying to deliver the right performance for a pair of indecisive agency producers. It will screen at SlamDance Film Festival’s Beyond program in Park City, Utah in January.
Mason is a veteran of The Second City Mainstage, where he has appeared in numerous shows, including the award-winning revue “SouthSide of Heaven,” produced with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. He has performed at iO and Comedy Sportz Chicago and appeared in movies, TV shows and TV commercials.
“Tim’s experience as a writer and creative director will be invaluable to clients,” says Lisa Masseur, ONE’s EP/managing director. “And his work as a comedic actor helps him bring out more nuanced performances from other actors.”
Mason brings the ONE directorial talent to eight, joining two other Chicago directors, four in LA and one in Washington, D.C.
