The Motion Agency has acquired fellow Windy City advertising agency LKH&S, marking its seventh acquisition and strengthening its business-to-business marketing expertise.
Founded in 1992, LKH&S has built a reputation in the B2B sector, working with clients including Hyundai, EmployCo, EvAI and Toggler. The addition further expands Motion’s capabilities in a category where it already has a strong track record, having previously been recognized by B2B Marketing magazine as one of the top B2B agencies in the country.
The acquisition follows Motion’s purchase of Chicago video production company AKA Media Inc. earlier this year, continuing a period of expansion for the independent agency.
The deals arrive as Motion experiences growth across its advertising, video production, public relations and paid media practices. To support that momentum, the agency is expanding its headquarters in Chicago’s historic Reid Murdoch Building, increasing its fifth-floor footprint by 21% to nearly 24,000 square feet.

The renovation will add conference rooms, collaboration areas, a kitchenette and 11 private offices, reflecting an increased employee presence in the office. Motion has drawn industry attention for its efforts to encourage in-person collaboration while maintaining flexibility for employees.
The investments stand in contrast to a broader advertising landscape marked by consolidation among large holding companies and private-equity-backed firms.
“We believe there is a tremendous appetite for client-focused, independent, midsized agencies that have the right capabilities to lead in this evolving media landscape,” said Motion Founder Kim Eberl. “And we are investing accordingly.”
Founded more than 20 years ago, The Motion Agency has positioned itself as one of Chicago’s largest independent marketing firms and the city’s largest woman-owned marketing-services agency. The addition of LKH&S further strengthens its position in the Midwest while expanding its expertise in B2B marketing and integrated communications.
