The Mill Chicago brings VFX and color grade to Clavin Harris’ hit Potion

The Mill Chicago adds visual effects and color grade to the Calvin Harris’ latest summer anthem ‘Potion’ alongside Dua Lipa and Young Thug.

Mill’s colorist Kris Smale collaborated with the artists and director Emil Nava to color-grade the music video that features Dua and Young Thug at a tropical island. Produced by Ammolite Inc., Potion is the first single in Harris’s upcoming album “Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2, which is slated to release in the summer.

“It’s not every day you get asked to work on a music video for music royalty like Calvin Harris, Dua Lipa, and Young Thug, so when you are, you jump to it,” shares Mill Chicago Head of Production, James Babiarz. “We’re no strangers to tight turnarounds and high-profile projects, and this was no exception. Using Unreal engine, our team of artists created vibrant tropical islands accompanied by a killer grade, to help enhance the vibe of the video.”

Colorist Kris Smale comments, “With Emil’s direction, my inspiration for the color was to translate a 60’s liquid light show into a digital and contemporary setting. To do so, I needed to push the saturation and hues into someplace that felt a bit extreme and not so perfect. All the while retaining a pop sensibility. The result is a bit trippy and psychedelic, but pretty as well.”

Potion released on Friday, May 27th. Watch the music video here.
