Just days after its streaming debut on Paramount+, The Chi has climbed into the platform’s Top 10 in the United States, signaling a strong start for the drama’s eighth and final season.
According to streaming tracking site FlixPatrol, The Chi ranked among the Top 10 television series on Paramount+ in the U.S. on May 25, only days after the new season premiered on May 22.
Created by Lena Waithe, the series has become one of Chicago’s most recognizable television productions since its debut.
Premiering in 2018, The Chi has remained a steady production presence in Chicago, employing local crews and regularly filming throughout neighborhoods across the city and the south suburbs. The series has also become one of the longest-running scripted television productions tied directly to Chicago.
Paramount+ launched the final 10-episode season on May 22, with new episodes scheduled to roll out weekly.
The final season stars Jacob Latimore, Birgundi Baker, Luke James, Shamon Brown Jr., Michael V. Epps, Hannaha Hall, Lynn Whitfield, Yolonda Ross and Jason Weaver.
