
The Chi is currently filming its eighth and final season in Chicago, as Paramount+ confirms a group of new recurring guest stars joining the ensemble.
Production on the final season has been underway since January, marking the series’ closing chapter after years of filming in the city.
Among the new additions:
- Darryl Dunning II as Rafi, one of Nuck’s quick-tempered enforcers
- Biko Eisen-Martin as Smitty, a reformed gangster shaped by life on the streets
- Akilah A. Walker as Amaya, Smitty’s girlfriend pushing for something more
- Laila Odom as Jordan, a nurse who maintains ties to the streets
- Liza Jessie Peterson as Patience, a no-nonsense attorney with an activist edge
- Anthony B. Jenkins as Devante, Emmett and Shay’s son, who moves in with Emmett and Kiesha after getting into trouble at school
The series continues to be led by Jacob Latimore, Birgundi Baker, Luke James, Shamon Brown Jr., Michael V. Epps, Hannaha Hall and Jason Weaver.
Returning guest stars include Rolando Boyce, Ahmad Ferguson, Zaria Primer, Cortez Smith, Rotimi, Barton Fitzpatrick, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Kyla Pratt, Reagan Gomez, Amari Noelle Ferguson, Tammy Townsend, Punkie Johnson, Karrueche Tran, L’lerret Jazelle, Jackie Long, Monroe Alise, Kennedy Amaya and Aina Brei’Yon.
Created and executive produced by Lena Waithe, the final season is set during what is described as the show’s coldest winter yet, with storylines centered on life-or-death decisions as legacy, conflict, joy and loss collide.
Produced by 20th Television, The Chi now moves toward its final run after years of steady production in Chicago.
