The new FX pilot, The Bear, has started filming around the Chicago area. The new Disney-owned series stars former Shameless star, Jeremy Allen White, as a young chef who returns to Chicago to run the family restaurant in the half-hour series.
FX gave the project a pilot order in March. The series comes from Ramy executive producer/director Christopher Storer, Hiro Murai’s (Atlanta) Super Frog, Joanna Calo (Bojack Horseman) and FX Productions.
According to Deadline, Storer will write, direct and executive produce with Murai, Nate Matteson and Calo. Casting was led by Jeanie & Maggie Bacharach.
Filming in Chicago retweeted on their account that the production will be filming by Campbell and Diversey this weekend as well as Mr. Beef on Orleans.
The Bear also features Ebon Moss-Bachrach (NOS4A2), Ayo Edebiri (Dickinson), Lionel Boyce (Loiter Squad), Abby Elliott (SNL) and Matty Matheson (Just A Dash), who is also a consulting producer.
For 11 seasons, White played Phillip “Lip” Gallagher in the Showtime dramedy and recently starred in Dave Franco’s feature The Rental. He was also featured in Amazon’s Homecoming.
White is represented by WME, Management 360 and Hansen, Jacobson.
