The Bear earns four SAG Awards nominations

Screen Actors

The 2025 SAG Awards nominations are in, and while Shogun leads the TV categories with five nominations, FX’s The Bear continues to prove its dominance, earning four nominations, including Best Comedy Series Ensemble.

The beloved Chicago-set series will compete in the Best Comedy Series Ensemble category against heavy hitters like Abbott Elementary, Hacks, Only Murders in the Building, and Shrinking. The show’s star, Jeremy Allen White, fresh off his Golden Globe win, is nominated for Best Actor in a Comedy Series, cementing his role as a standout in this year’s awards race. Meanwhile, co-stars Ayo Edebiri and Liza Colón-Zayas earned SAG nods for their performances, bringing The Bear’s total nominations to four.

This year’s TV nominations reflect the continued success of shows that balance humor with drama. While The Bear is officially in the comedy category, its intense storytelling and raw emotional depth blur traditional genre lines. Its inclusion highlights the evolving definition of comedy in modern television.

Wicked Leads Film Noms

On the film side, Wicked leads the nominations with five, including Best Cast, Best Actress for Cynthia Erivo, and Best Supporting Actress for Ariana Grande. It’s joined by A Complete Unknown, which earned four nominations, and Emilia Pérez and Anora, each with three.

Golden Globe winners Demi Moore (The Substance) and Adrien Brody (The Brutalist) received nods for Best Actress and Best Actor, respectively. Notably, A Complete Unknown star Timothée Chalamet is nominated for his portrayal of Bob Dylan, with Edward Norton and Monica Barbaro earning supporting nods for their roles.

The SAG Awards announcement, originally scheduled for a live event on Wednesday, was postponed due to the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires. In a statement accompanying the nominees’ announcement, the guild expressed solidarity with those affected: “Our thoughts are with everyone impacted — the residents, first responders, and all those working tirelessly to protect the community.”

With nominations reflecting the best of film and television, this year’s SAG Awards promise to celebrate standout performances and ensembles across diverse genres. For The Bear, its continued accolades signal not only its critical acclaim but also its cultural resonance as a show that captures the grit and humanity of the culinary world while staying true to its Chicago roots.
