Christopher Storer, known for his critically acclaimed series The Bear, has successfully secured the rights to adapt Sarah Harman’s upcoming book, All the Other Mothers Hate Me, for FX.

This acquisition followed a fierce bidding war, with more than a dozen companies vying for the author’s debut novel. Storer, whose profile has risen with the success of The Bear, was able to emerge victorious alongside FX, where he holds an overall deal.

All the Other Mothers Hate Me is a gripping novel that revolves around an American woman’s suspicion that her son may be responsible for the death of a wealthy student at his West London private school.

Harman is a London-based journalist with over a decade of experience reporting on major news stories worldwide. While her novel is not set for publication until 2025, it has already generated significant buzz in the industry, having been one of the hottest titles at the recent Frankfurt Book Fair. Harman is expected to adapt her novel into a series for FX under Storer’s guidance.

Storer’s darkly comedic half-hour series, The Bear, received considerable acclaim. The show garnered 13 Emmy nominations for its first season, including nods for Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series.

The series also earned acting nominations for its stars, including Jeremy Allen White, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Ayo Edebiri, Jon Bernthal, and Oliver Platt. Season one of The Bear boasts a rare 100 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, and the second season, which delivered record ratings for Hulu, is equally impressive with a 99 percent rating

The announcement of the adaptation of All the Other Mothers Hate Me comes at a time when the entertainment industry is grappling with back-to-back strikes, which have disrupted production schedules and left many looking for valuable intellectual property to adapt.

Prior to this acquisition, Storer was already lining up other projects, including directing The Winter of Frankie Machine, based on Don Winslow’s 2006 novel, for Paramount Pictures. In collaboration with Josh Senior and Cooper Wehde, Storer will produce All the Other Mothers Hate Me under his production company, American Light & Fixture.

This exciting project marks another milestone in Storer’s career, building upon the success of The Bear and showcasing his ability to bring compelling storytelling to the screen.
