Thanksgiving thieves take off with RAH’s $65,000 generator and trailer

While RAH Producers Center owner Bob Hudecek and his staff were home enjoying the Thanksgiving weekend, thieves who knew exactly what they were doing broke into RAH’s yard and stole a movie generator and custom-built trailer.

Hudecek asks equipment purveyors to be on the alert for the all-black, 700 amp generator, on a custom trailer with chrome wheels, weighing about 10,000 lbs.

A reward is offered for the generator’s recovery or information leading to its return.

The thief “has to be someone who knows the unit and scoped it out on the weekend,” said Hudecek. “They showed up with bolt cutters and the right-sized vehicle and hitch to tow it with and drove right out of the year.”

A police detective covering the theft indicated he might have a suspect in mind.

Hudecek originally paid $40,000 for the generator. He had it rebuilt in 2001 at a cost of $17,000 and a trailer was custom-made for $6,000.
