Terra Nova launches breakthrough video website

Anyone who has had to take care of an ailing parent or child at home knows that care-giving can be difficult, painful and heart-wrenching.

To help America’s 50 million family caregivers be able to see and learn from real people’s experience, Terra Nova Films has launched a ground-breaking all-video website, www.videocaregiving.org, a free resource.

Two years in the works, the care-giving site was developed by Ed Menaker, Terra Nova’s development director since 2004, and funded by “a sizeable grant” from the Retirement Research Foundation.

The site is truly unique and exclusive, Menaker noted. “There’s really nothing else like it that shows caregivers appropriate care-giving techniques and help them to better understand issues that they might be dealing with.”

The site consists of 5-8-minute mostly documentary videos, real people facing real challenges that come from 32-year old Terra Nova’s 200-film library on aging, and from other video sources.

Bill Kurtis recorded a special welcome on the site that speaks to the importance of the storytelling power of video.
