Telemundo Chicago to broadcast 26th Street Mexican Parade

Telemundo Chicago, the new broadcasting home of the 26th Street Mexican Independence Day Parade, is gearing up to provide live coverage of this highly anticipated annual event.

Organized by The Little Village Chamber of Commerce, this celebration of Mexican Independence Day has evolved into one of the largest of its kind in the nation, featuring over 100 floats, more than 3,000 participants and volunteers, and attracting a staggering 400,000 attendees.

The network has enlisted a team of talented hosts and reporters to cover this year’s parade. Noticiero Telemundo Chicago’s Alfonso Gutiérrez, Anabel Monge, and Héctor Lozano will be among the featured talent providing insights and commentary. Adding to the excitement, Penélope Menchaca, the host of Telemundo’s popular national morning news and entertainment program “Hoy Día,” will serve as the Parade Marshal.

Carmen Vega, Director of Special Projects & Community Relations at NBCUniversal Local Chicago, expressed their enthusiasm for this special collaboration, stating, “Telemundo Chicago prides itself on being the voice of Chicago’s Hispanic community, and we look forward to delivering expanded, live coverage of the beloved ‘Mexican Independence Day Parade’ to our viewers on multiple platforms.”

The parade will commence from the iconic Little Village Arch, located at the intersection of 26th Street and Albany Avenue. From there, it will proceed along 26th Street, concluding at Kostner Avenue.

If you plan on attending, you can expect a dazzling showcase of vibrant floats, the melodious tunes of mariachi bands, and captivating folkloric dances. The parade’s appeal knows no bounds, drawing a diverse audience that includes residents, elected officials, community leaders, local businesses, entertainers, artisans, and artists.

The parade kicks off at 12:00 PM CT. Telemundo Chicago will broadcast the event live from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM CT. Following that, the live coverage will continue on the NBC Chicago News 24/7 streaming channel until 1:30 PM CT.

In addition to the live broadcast on Telemundo Chicago, viewers can catch parade reports and recaps throughout the day and evening on Noticiero Telemundo Chicago, NBC 5 News, and their online platforms, including TelemundoChicago.com, NBCChicago.com, and the NBC Chicago app.
