The Team Companies’ Chicago staff of four will set up its new Chicago offices the first week of March in 2,600-sq. ft. space at 230 W. Superior, “where we’ll grow the staff here as business continues to increase,” says Mark Egmon, VP / marketing communications and brand management.
Leading the office as supervisor of The Team’s talent payment department is Nadine Roberson, formerly with Talent Partners. Business affairs are handled by Nora Ortiz, also formerly Talent Partners and Felicia Watkins, from Cramer- Krasselt.
The Team’s head of business affairs, headquartered in its New York office, is Chicagoan Marcelle Gruman, formerly head of business affairs at Element 79, Leo Burnett and JWT.
Since last fall, The Team staff had been sharing space with Evanston-based Burns Entertainment, the long-time global celebrity procurement and music licensing firm, which made sense since The Team Companies has its roots in the music industry.
Egmon says The Team is the largest payroll provider for the US music and the concert tour industries. Several years ago, it expanded into talent, and then crew payments.
“We also provide a wide range of business services that support the production of advertising and entertainment content,” he adds.
Recently, the company acquired Lightspeed, EPS, Inc. of Burbank, Calif., a leading provider of cloud-based entertainment time card and production management software for the film and television industries. In addition to Chicago and LA, it has offices in New York, Detroit, Portland, Ore., and Toronto.
Egmon, a former film producer and branded entertainment consultant, celebrated his tenth anniversary in December with The Team Companies; the first five years as a consultant and on the full-time staff for the past five years.
