Tacos, Tequila & Tender Cuts: Hootenanny throws down for Cinco de Guyo

Cinco de Guyo

Chicago’s post-production scene got a little saucy this week, thanks to Hootenanny’s fifth annual Cinco de Guyo bash—a cheeky, taco-fueled spin on Cinco de Mayo held at Mercadito in honor of the advertising industry’s creative gentlemen.

Created as the “brother event” to Hootenanny’s beloved Galentine’s Day soirée, Cinco de Guyo is set to become a spring staple, offering editors, producers, creatives, and agency clients a much-needed excuse to kick back, swap war stories, and raise a glass (or three) of tequila.

“Our Sales Director Surita was the one who dreamed up this event,” said Liz Tate, Hootenanny President and co-founder. “It’s a great time of the year to get our male clients out and reconnect over some great food and drinks.”

The vibe? Low-key and high-energy. Attendees from agencies like DDB mingled over mini tacos, top-shelf tequila, and plenty of laughter. In a business that’s always on deadline, this was the kind of night that reminded everyone why they got into the game: the people.

“We are so lucky to work with some of the smartest, funniest, kindest, and most creative people,” said Surita Mansukhani, Hootenanny’s Director of Sales and Promotions. “We wanted to throw some fun events to celebrate working together, have fun, and laugh.”

And laugh they did—over margaritas, industry gossip, and the shared joy of not being in front of a timeline for once.

“There are two events that have become an annual tradition at Hootenanny,” added Jim Annerino, partner and co-founder. “Galentine’s and Cinco de Guyo. These smaller, more intimate gatherings are a reflection of who we are—they’re personal, they’re warm, and they’re full of personality.”

And that spirit extends to everything Hootenanny does. Take a look at some fun pics below:

Founded in 2008 by Tate and Annerino, Hootenanny has grown into one of Chicago’s most beloved boutique post-production studios—offering creative editorial, motion graphics, finishing, and VFX across commercial and branded content. Now located in a cozy lofted space in the West Loop, the company has leaned fully into its warm, client-first ethos with a tagline that says it all:

We’re not just your post house. We’re your post home.”
