Superior Street’s abrupt closing September 16
after ten years surprises staff and community

Superior Street closed its trio of companies on Friday, Sept. 16 after a decade of operation, its abrupt ending taking employees and the community totally by surprise.

“We had a great run,” said president/founder Maggie Magee. “But there were very sad extenuating circumstances” that led up to the shuttering, including the inability to renegotiate a costly office lease.

“The local market is always diminished whenever a resource doesn’t make it,” commented Ed Amaya, who had been director Ron Lazzeretti’s sales partner at Spoke Films for three years.

The three companies?editing boutique Superior Street, graphic design Flux Group and spot production Spoke Films?were located on two entire floors, 10,000-sq. ft. of converted loft space at 215 W. Superior St.
